How can I purchase an item?
You may purchase using our PayPal shopping cart and checkout. All prices and shipping will be calculated automatically once items are added to the cart. Purchases may be completed through PayPal using either an existing PayPal account or a major credit card (VISA/MasterCard).
Or, you may contact us to discuss your purchases and discuss possible discounts for purchasing multiple items. Using this method, once items are selected, you will be sent an invoice from Ixchel Textiles that details your purchase and includes a link directly to the PayPal payment page.
We want you to be happy with your purchase, and we welcome questions about our items. We would be glad provide additional photos of items upon request. Just ask!
What about shipping?
All items are located in Guatemala, unless otherwise noted. We ship using Guatemalan post (a Canadian run company) and have had no problems in the arrival of items. Most items generally arrive in 15 business days via registered mail. The price of shipping is dependent on the weight of the items selected and the mailing destination.
How do I care for my item?
Most of the items that we sell are daily use clothing items. Generally they have been washed numerous times before we have received them. Some items we have washed ourselves to remove dust or storage smells. Most fabrics can be gently hand washed in cool water using a small amount of powder or liquid detergent pre-diluted in water. Once rinsed, they should be either hung or laid flat to dry. We recommend testing a small corner of the fabric for color fastness. When in doubt, please don’t hesitate to ask us, we would be glad to let you know if we have personally washed an item. Some region specific textiles from the areas of Nahualá and San Mateo Ixtatan we have found have a tendency to lose their color in the wash.
What if I don’t see an item I am looking for on your web page?
Please don’t hesitate to ask! We love looking for special request items! It is sometimes a challenge, but we have access to items from many of the numerous regions of Guatemala, and have been known to find a few items from Mexico as well.
