Beautiful blue huipil! This huipil is from the town of Tactic in the region of Alta Verapaz. This elegant huipil measures 30” across the shoulders, 25″ across the chest*, and 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures  5.25” along each of the four sides. The sides have been stitched to create armholes. *The sides of this huipil have been taken in substantially along the sides (3″+ on each side). If the stitching was removed it would make this huipil much larger.

This beautiful two-panel huipil is elegant with its light and dark blue texture weaving and stunning hand-guided, machine done embroidery across the chest. The embroidery features lovely flowers and a beautiful butterfly. There is some use of metallic thread in the embroidered design. The background fabric is a medium weight blue cotton.

Very striking huipil in very good condition. This ceremonial styled huipil is from the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. This stunning huipil measures 28” across the shoulders, 27.5″ across the chest, and 22″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 6″by 6″. The sides have had the stitching removed so that the huipil opens completely. It is fairly easy to restitch the sides  to create armholes.

This huipil is in the ceremonial Santa Maria style and is beautiful with its crisp colors and hand weaving that features traditional birds fully woven throughout. The colors are red and green, with accents in purple and pink. The background fabric is a medium weight white woven cotton blend with red stripes.

Early vintage threads and design! This lovely huipil is from Zunil, in the Quetzaltenango region of Guatemala. This unique huipil measures 31″ across the shoulders, 31″ across the chest,  and 23″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures approximately 5.25″ in diameter. The sides have been stitched to create armholes.

This huipil is woven with cotton blend threads that is common for the Zunil region. It has large red and brown leaf-style designs done in hand embroidery in all cotton threads that surround the collar. The collar and sleeve openings are trimmed in acrylic thread crochet. Lovely and unique pattern!

Very detailed smaller woven vintage huipil from the village of Nebaj. This lovely huipil measures 26″ across the shoulders, 26″ across the chest, and 26″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 5.25″ in diameter with an additional 2″ snap-closed slit to aid in pulling over the head (snug fit over adult head). The sides have been stitched to create armholes.

This huipil features extensive and elaborate weaving of geomorphic figures including various birds, deer, and people that are representative for the area of Nebaj. The colors are a variety of greens, burgundy, and blues. The background is white acrylic blend.

Fuchsia! Elegant woven huipil from the area of San Lucan Toliman. This beautiful classic huipil measures 32″ across the shoulders, 28″ across the chest, and 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped and measures approximately 5.75″ along each of the four sides. The sides are stitched, creating armholes.

 This huipil is very beautiful with a hand woven pattern throughout. The tiny geomorphic figures are woven into the background fabric. The design is alternating rows of of animals, mayan stars, and corn plants. It has a variety of colors in the tiny figures.  The collar and sleeve openings have sweet little accents of hand embroidered flowers. The woven background is soft, super bright pink woven cotton. This is a wonderful example of the classic style huipiles of the San Lucas Toliman region in a very unique color.

BRAND NEW! This is a very unique item for Ixchel Textiles! We generally do not purchase any new textiles but due to the extreme difficulty in finding huipiles from this area we went directly to a weaving cooperative in San Juan la Laguna to find this special huipil. This is one of two that we brought back from the trip.

Striking huipil from San Juan la Laguna. The collar is accented with the classic design circling the neck opening that is representative in huipiles from the area. This two lienzo huipil measures 31″ across the shoulders, 30″ across the chest, and 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is more or less square and measures approximately 5.25″ x 6.25. The sides have been stitched to create armholes.

The accent around the collar is a rainbow of colors hand embroidered in soft acrylic thread that extends to the little squares below the neckline circle. The background fabric is a crisp woven cotton blend in red with wonderful white stripes.

Absolutely spectacular ceremonial style huipil in stunning red and black. This vintage huipil is from the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. This stunning huipil measures 34.5” across the shoulders, 34″ across the chest, and 38″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped and measures 5.5″ along each of the four sides with an additional 2″ slit. The sides have had the stitching removed so that the huipil opens completely. It is fairly easy to restitch the sides  to create armholes.

This rarely seen huipil is in the ceremonial Santa Maria style and is long and beautiful with its detailed geomorphic figures throughout. Double-headed eagles, feathered serpents, and birds can be seen in the design. It is fully woven. The color is mostly red with a rainbow of accent colors in cotton threads. The background fabric is a medium weight woven black cotton. The neck opening appears to have been retrimmed with a royal blue acrylic thread.

Stunning huipil from the Chichicastenango region. Traditional tapestry style with beautiful designs and incredible colors. Fantastic texture too! This is a very beautiful huipil from the Chichicastenango region of Guatemala, famous for having one of the largest markets in the country. This huipil measures 30.5″ across the shoulders, 30″ across the chest, 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded).  The smaller neck opening is round and measures 5″ in diameter with an additional 2.5″ snap-closed slit to aid in pulling over the head. The sides have been stitched to create armholes.

This three panel huipil is striking with elaborate weaving that features a lovely multicolored classic flower design throughout the body and shoulders in colors of pinks and oranges with green leaves on a grey background design. The neckline is decorated with the design of a radiating sun, traditional for the region. The background fabric is woven black cotton.

Wonderfully soft and beautiful huipil from the Quetzaltenango/Xela region in Guatemala. This huipil measures 35″ across the shoulders, 34″ across the chest, and 29.5″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 5.75” in diameter with an additional 1.5″ slit to aid in pulling over the head. The sides have been partially stitched to create armholes.

The colors are a sea of rich raspberry purples and pinks with lovely black and white ikat stripes. The collar is trimmed with machine embroidery of flowers in purple and pink. The same embroidery cascades from the shoulders where the panels join. The collar is trimmed with black vevet-like accent. The background fabric is a nubby, raw white cotton.

Vintage Huipil from the department of Sololá. This huipil measures 32.5″ across the shoulders, 27.5″ across the chest*, and 24″ from the shoulders to the bottom edge. The neck opening is round and measures approximately 6.5″ in diameter. The sides have been stitched to create armholes. *The sides of this huipil have been taken in approximately 2″ on each side. If this stitching was removed, it would make the huipil larger.

This huipil is woven in the traditional style of Sololá with a rainbow of colors.  There are traditional ikat style woven stripes throughout the bodice with accents in the upper portion. They are hand-guided, machine done embroidered figures. There is a predominantly black and brown cotton blend background with a variety of colors throughout the bodice.

Very stunning vintage embroidered huipil, full of lifelike quetzales and peacocks! It is from the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. This stunning huipil measures 29″ across the shoulders, 27.5″ across the chest,  and 27″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped and measures 4.5″ along each of the four sides (smaller). The sides are stitched to create armholes.

This huipil is absolutely beautiful with brilliant colored embroidery that features two quetzales (national bird of Guatemala) on each side in a garden full of flowers and rabbits. The colors are glowing jewel colors of greens, pinks, blues, purples and more! The embroidery is all machine done free-hand, and is truly an art form. Just amazing! The head and sleeve openings are trimmed in raspberry colored velveteen. The background is a black commercial fabric. This is a wonderful example of the incredibly beautiful ‘fiesta’ huipiles of Santa Maria de Jesús.

Absolutely huge and stunning vintage huipil from San Mateo Ixtatán! This beautiful and rarely seen available huipil measures 46″ across the shoulders, and 27″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded) at the longest point. The neck opening is round and measures 6.75″ in diameter.

This huge huipil is breathtaking with its elaborate fully hand-embroidered design in brilliant colors of red, yellow, green, and blue sewn on a simple muslin background. This is a very large and very heavy huipil with the design shown on both inside and out. The design has the round ‘suns’ radiating from the collar. The collar is made from commercial fabric with added accents of various stitched on appliques. The lower edge of the huipil has been removed. This simple muslin fabric is usually the first to wear out.

Due to the colder climate of San Mateo Ixtatán huipiles from this area tend to be heavy and warm. These classic huipiles from San Mateo Ixtatán of this style are very difficult to come by.

 Beautiful soft huipil featuring elegant hand-stitched overflowing flower baskets. This beautiful huipil measures 35″ across the shoulders, 26″ across the chest, and 24″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 5.25″ x 5.25″. The sides are stitched to create armholes. **Note that the sides of this huipil have been tailored. They have been taken in and cut to create a more fitted look. They cannot be opened back out completely to make square. The sleeve openings are quite small at 9″ around. It might be possible to open them more, but I cannot say for certain.

This lovely white huipil is accented with a hand-stitched design across the chest and back, as well as on the sleeve caps that features overflowing flower baskets and colorful calla lilies around the neck opening. The detailed design is a wonderful work of art. The background fabric is a super soft woven white.

The bottom edge shows where the extra thread was woven back into the huipil, running stock effect, (slightly lumpy  and open weave at bottom edge). A stunning piece of art for wear or display!

Super tiny child’s huipil from Chichicastenango! Traditional tapestry style with beautiful floral design. Fantastic texture and color! Very stunning woven huipil from the Chichicastenango region of Guatemala, famous for having one of the largest markets in the country. This sweet little huipil measures 18″ across the shoulders, 13″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 4.25″ in diameter with an additional 1″ slip to aid in pulling over the head.

This little huipil would have been used for an infant or very small toddler. This three panel huipil is striking with elaborate weaving that features multi-colored classic rose flower designs. The neckline is decorated with the radiating sun, traditional for the region. The background fabric is medium/heavy-weight rich purple cotton. The small huipiles make fantastic wall hangings, especially for girls rooms.

This flower filled vintage huipil is from the area of Patzún. This lovely huipil measures 30″ across the shoulders, 30″ across the chest, and 20″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 6.25″ in diameter. The sides have been stitched to create arm holes.

This huipil is a rich deep burgundy color accented with light multi-colored stripes and has an exquisite flower garden around the collar that is trademark of the Patzún region. The flowers are all hand embroidered in wonderful shades of lavenders, yellows, and pinks. The background fabric is soft woven cotton. This huipil is soft to the touch and the stripes are left loose to create a lovely fringe.

Beautiful hand woven vintage huipil from the region of San Ildefonso Ixtahuacán located in the department of Huehuetnango. These aren’t seen as often as they used to be. This huipil measures 28″ across the shoulders, 19.5″ across the chest, 17.5″ from the neckline to the bottom edge (folded). The neck opening is rectangular and measures 5″ x 3.5″ (smaller).

This striking huipil is woven with various multi-colored diamonds throughout the body. The collar area is accented with hand embroidered radiant circles that gives it almost a stained glass look. The neckline embroidery is done so that the design is the same inside and out. The areas where the panels join are also decorated in hand embroidery of colorful bugs. The background fabric is a medium weight woven white cotton.
