Aguacatán

Exquisite satin design from the region of Aguacatán. This beautiful huipil is highly influenced by the Mexican style of huipil with a white background and lots of orange and red colors.  This huipil measures 29″ across the shoulders, 21″ from the neckline to the bottom edges. The neck opening is round and measures 6″ in diameter. The sides have been stitched closed to create armholes.

This white satin huipil is elegant with its hand-embroidered design around the collar and sleeves in brilliant colors of red, yellow, and orange accented with appliqué and machine stitching throughout the bodice and finished with a delicate lace trim around the bottom edge.

This unique huipil is in very good used condition, with a few loose threads and the appliqué is loose in a few places. There is some minor wear at the sleeves and collar due to the delicate nature of the material used in the huipiles of Aguacatán.

Aguacatán

Very elegant and very long cinta from the town of Aguacatán. Women wear this style of cinta in their hair as part of their outfit. This colorful cinta measures 108″ in length (not including tassels) and 4″ in width. The tassels at each end measure 5″ each.

This cinta is finely hand woven with geomorphic mayan shapes that represent the colorful daily life running the full length of the cinta. The threads are a mix of cotton, acrylic, blended and metallic accents. The metallic thread is used sparingly in the lines dividing the sections from the tassels up to the top of the section with the ducks on each side. This unique cinta is woven in a predominantly blue color scheme as compared to the more commonly seen red color schemes. This cinta is older, as this color scheme and style is not found much anymore.

This cinta is in excellent used condition with very little wear.
