Chajul

Beautiful classic huipil from Chajul in deep burgundy! This super lovely huipil measures 34″ across the shoulders, 24″ from the neckline to the bottom edges. The neck opening is more or less square and measures 5 1/2″ on each of the four sides. The sides have been stitched closed to create armholes.

This super soft, classic huipil is lovely with traditional geomorphic animal figures woven on a burgundy woven background. The design is a mix of gold, turquoise,  white, purple, and a mix of other colors. The design is classic for the town of Chajul with figures of owls across the bodice on both sides. The shoulders  and sleeves are accented with a coordinating geomorphic design. The threads in the designs are mostly lustrina. The background fabric is medium weight, super soft woven cotton in a rich burgundy color. The photograph shows the color brighter than it really is.

This huipil is in excellent used condition, with no visible signs of wear. A spectacular piece of art that can either be worn or displayed!

This crisp, classic huipil is lovely with traditional geomorphic animal figures woven on a white woven cotton background. The design is a mix of gold, turquoise,  green, purple, and burgundy colors. The design is classic for the town of Chajul with figures of horses riding horses with birds on their backs. The shoulders accented with a similar design. The threads are a mix of acrylic and lustrina. The collar is accented with a radiating burgundy trim with delicate purple stitching. The background fabric is medium to heavy weight cotton with thin burgundy stripes.

This huipil is in excellent used condition, with no visible signs of wear. The white background has no visible marks or stains. The photo does not show how lovely this huipil is! It was very hard to show the lovely white background without blowing out the white color.

This huipil is lovely with traditional diamond shaped geomorphic figures woven on a soft slate-gray background. The design is a mix of gold, turquoise, white, purple, and blue colors. The design is classic for the town of Chajul with figures of birds and other creatures. The background fabric is satiny gray.

This huipil is in good used condition, with a few signs of wear. Perhaps some loose threads. The lower edge on one side has an area where the weaving has loosened.
