Comalapa

Super soft and very elegant huipil, full of lifelike peacocks! It is from the town of Comalapa. This elegant and striking huipil measures 33″ across the shoulders, and 22″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 4″ x 61/2″. The shoulders had previously been gathered and stitched, but the stitching has been removed to extend the huipil to its full size. The area where the fabric had been gathered is slightly darker than the rest of the huipil. The color of the huipil has faded slightly, but nonetheless still very striking in its beauty.

This huipil is absolutely beautiful with brilliant hand weaving with satin soft thread that features a row of beautiful blue peacocks on each side of the huipil between bands of ‘flowing rivers’. The colors are glowing jewel colors of greens, pinks, blues, purples, yellows and more! The neckline and sleeves are accented with soft deep grey velvet. The background is soft deep-grey hand woven cotton. The photos do not show how beautiful this huipil is.

This huipil is in great used condition, the only flaws being the slightly faded color, and that the velvet of the sleeves and collar has worn down leaving a soft satin base. This huipil is very wearable!
