Elegant tzute or utility cloth made in the town of Nebaj. Tzutes are generally used by both men and woman in a variety of manners. Tzutes are used for many tasks including carrying items, covering the shoulders when cold, and folding a placing on the head to keep the sun off or when entering church.  This tzute measures 26″ by 35″ with 6 1/2″ of fringe at each end.

This tzute is woven in the classic green with purple, burgundy and white striped threads with fantastic geomorphic figures and people throughout and delicate soft tassels on each end. This tzute tells a wonderful story with figures of men, birds, corn plants, horses and others on a single woven panel.

This tzute is in great used condition with very little sign of wear. This would make a stunning shawl, table cover or wall accent. A very lovely textile!

Beautiful perraje/rebozo or shawl from the village of Nebaj. This very elegant perraje would be worn over the shoulders or folded and placed on top of the head. This lovely textile measures 20″ in width and 41″ in length, not including the additional 4″ fringe on each end. It is made from two panels woven on a backstrap loom and joined with simple stitching down the middle.

This classic Nebaj shawl is woven with the traditional stripes in many colors including the predominant green, black, and cranberry. The delicate fringe creates a very elegant touch to the ends. The decorative weaving of geomorphic animal figures is representative for the area of Nebaj. This shawl is very striking and elegant.

It is made from two panels woven on a backstrap loom and joined with simple stitching down the middle.

Very detailed woven vintage huipil from the village of Nebaj. This ornate huipil measures 31 1/2″ across the shoulders, and 24 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures approximately 5″ in diameter with an additional 2 1/2″ snap-closed slit on one side to allow it to pass over the head with ease. The sides have been stitched to create arm holes.

This huipil features extensive and elaborate weaving of geomorphic figures including various birds, deer, and horses that are representative for the area of Nebaj. The figures tell a wonderful story. The colors are a variety of greens, lavenders, and blues. The background is black woven cotton. The collar has accent trim.

Elegant cinta/hair wrap from the village of Nebaj. Women wear this style of cinta in their hair as part of their outfit. This colorful cinta measures 100″ in total length and 3 1/2″ in width. The tassels at each end measure 7″ each. The more detailed weaving decorations run approximately 10″ at each end.

This cinta is finely woven with wonderful colors of green with accents of gold, white blue, and purple, representing the mountains and rivers of Guatemala running the full length of the cinta. At each end there are sections with more detailed weaving containing mayan stars and geomorphic animal figures similar to those found in huipiles from this same region. The tassels are a wonderful mix of the colors found in the cinta, with solid center colors of red, blue, yellow, pink, and turquoise.

This huipil features extensive and elaborate weaving of geomorphic figures including various birds, deer, and horses that are representative for the area of Nebaj. The colors are a variety of greens, lavenders, and blues. The background is white cotton with blue stripes. An additional trim of woven burgundy cotton has been added at the bottom to extend the length of the garment. The collar has been trimmed with a deep burgundy fabric and accented with trim of green, blue, and white.
