Beautiful hand woven vintage huipil from the region of San Ildefonso Ixtahuacán located in the department of Huehuetnango. This huipil measures 33″ across the shoulders, 19″ from the neckline to the bottom edge (folded). This measurement includes the 3″ of fringe all along the bottom edge. The neck opening is diamond shaped and measures 4 1/2″ along each of the 4 sides.
This heavier huipil is woven with various multi-colored diamonds throughout the body. The collar area is accented with hand embroidered flowers of pinks, greens, yellows and blues. The edges of the cotton panels are woven with colors of brick-red and orange. The background fabric is a heavier white cotton.
The style of this huipil is to be worn untucked, hanging over the corte or skirt.

This huipil is in good to fair condition. There are no worn areas nor loose threads, but the colors have run in many places leaving stains and spots throughout the white cotton bodice. This is a reflection of its vintage condition.
