Very detailed vintage huipil from the village of San Juan Cotzal. This striking smaller huipil measures 25″ across the shoulders, 23.5″ across the chest, and 26″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is rectangular and measures 4″ x 4.75″ (very small, might need to cut neckline to fit over adult head). The sides have been stitched to create armholes.

This huipil features extensive and elaborate weaving of geomorphic figures that are representative for the area. There are many birds, deer, corn plants, and people woven throughout. The weaving is a rainbow of colors woven on a red and white horizontal striped background. The lower section under the designs is a fantastic raw (nubby) white and purple cotton. The collar has been trimmed with a purple fabric and accented with narrow colorful stitching. This is a very fully woven early design that shows a quality not often seen

This huipil is in very good used condition with little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads. There is a very slightly faded area on one side just under the collar and a 1.5″ square repair on one side of the chest on the other side. Perfect textile for display or wear!

Very detailed smaller huipil from the village of San Juan Cotzal. This striking smaller huipil measures 24″ across the shoulders, 20″ across the chest, and 24″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 3.5″ x 3.5″ with an additional 3.5″ snap-closed slit to aid in pulling over the head (very tight fit over avg adult head). The sides have had the stitching removed to allow the huipil to open completely, but can easily be restitched to create armholes if desired.

This huipil features extensive and elaborate weaving of geomorphic figures that are representative for the area. There are many birds, deer, owls, and people woven throughout. The weaving is a rainbow of colors woven on a red and white horizontal striped background. The lower section under the designs is a fantastic raw (nubby) white cotton. The collar has been trimmed with a purple fabric and accented with narrow colorful stitching.

The neck opening is roundish/square and measures 5″ in diameter (tight to pull over adult head). The sides have had the stitching removed to open the arm holes, but can easily be restitched if desired.

This huipil features extensive and elaborate weaving of geomorphic figures that are representative for the area. The bodice is full of birds and little women and men. The weaving is a rainbow of colors woven on a white cotton blend background. The collar has been trimmed with a deep burgundy fabric and accented with narrow green, red, and blue stitching.

This huipil is in good used condition with some signs of wear. There are a couple of small stains in the bodice and a couple in the lower white section, but nothing to detract from the beauty of this vintage textile. Perfect for display or wear!

Elegant perraje/rebozo or shawl from the village of San Juan Cotzal. This very elegant perraje would be worn over the shoulders or folded and placed on top of the head. This lovely textile measures 21″ in width and 56″ in length, not including the additional 4″ fringe on each end.

This classic San Juan Cotzal shawl is woven with the traditional stripes in various colors with the predominant pink, black, and burgundy. The delicate fringe creates a very elegant touch to the ends. The fringe has been intricately braided and knotted, and adds a special touch.

This perraje is in excellent used condition, with little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads. There are a few tiny nubs in the textile from the weaving process. Very lovely textile for display or use!

Beautiful elegant faja/belt from the region of San Juan Cotzal. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This beautiful faja measures 114″ long, with an additional 4″ of tassel on each end. It also measures 12 1/2” wide.

This faja is woven in delicate pastel colors with pinks, lavenders, greens and many other colors. The fringe ends are very intricately braided and knotted to create an elegant touch . This is a wonderful and wide faja that has the classic stripes of the Ixil area in Guatemala.

This faja is in excellent used condition with very little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads at the tassel ends. There are a few minor flaws due to weaving, but nothing due to wear or use. This lovely textile would be perfect for display or wear as a shawl or belt!
