Lovely woven huipil from the area of San Pedro Necta in the department of Huehuetenango.  This very unique huipil measures 31″ across the shoulders, and 20 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped measures 4 1/2″ in length (comfortable fit over 22″ diameter head). The sides are closed, creating armholes.

This huipil is very interesting and unique. The warp of the weaving is horizontal, which is unique to huipiles of San Pedro Necta. Instead of two panels that are seamed together vertically and folded across the shoulders, this huipil has the panels joined horizontally across the shoulders and stitched along one side. The head opening and sleeve openings have accent stitching done with heavier acrylic threads. The fabric is white cotton with burgundy and pale orange accent stripes.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in very good used condition, perhaps a few loose threads and a very faint stain or two. The armholes have been opened a tiny bit on each side to allow a bit more room. Perfect for display or for wear!
