Unique lake inspired huipil from Santa Maria de Jesús. This striking and different huipil measures 27″ across the shoulders, 23″ across the chest*, 25″ – 26 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The panels vary a bit in length. The neck opening is diamond shaped and measures 5″ along each of the four sides. The sides are stitched to create armholes. *The sides have been taken in some and if the stitching was removed would add approximately 2″ across the chest.

This striking huipil is lovely with its predominately teal and blue diamond design woven with arti-seda and cotton thread giving it an wonderful feel. The color resembles the waters of Lake Atitlán. The bodice is filled completely with spots of color accents. The sleeve caps are trimmed with a coordinating design. The design is woven on a medium to heavy black cotton background. This is a unique variation on the classic huipil design from Santa Maria de Jesús.

Very unique smaller huipil in excellent condition. This ceremonial styled huipil is from the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. This stunning huipil measures 24” across the shoulders, 23″ across the chest, and 20 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 5″by 5″. The sides have been stitched to create armholes.

This huipil is in the ceremonial Santa Maria style and is beautiful with its crisp colors and hand weaving that features traditional two headed eagles, feathered serpents, birds, as well as classic mayan stars that run across the shoulders. It is fully woven. The colors are red and green, with accents in purple and pink. The background fabric is a medium weight white woven cotton blend with red stripes.

Very classic huipil in great condition. This huipil is from the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. The sides are sewn closed, creating sleeve holes.

This huipil is in the classic Santa Maria style in deep purple colors with hand weaving that features the traditional diamond patterns found in the daily use huipiles of Santa Maria de Jesús. It is accented with beautiful embroidery of flowers cascading down the front and back of the bodice. The collar and sleeves are trimmed with light blue velvet accents.

This striking huipil is lovely in its predominately magenta-red and green diamond design woven with arti-seda and cotton thread giving it an wonderful feel. The bodice is filled completely with spots of color as accents. The sleeves are trimmed with a coordinating design. The design is woven on a medium to heavy black cotton background. Striking corte/skirt made in the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. The corte is a wrap-around skirt that consists of a cut of cloth usually joined to form a tube into which the woman steps. Excess material is wrapped around the body and folded at the waist in pleats, and tied with a faja (belt). This corte measures 43 1/2″ wide and 48″ long (doubled). This corte has the opening at the long sides as shown in the picture of the corte hanging. If the stitching joining the sides of the tube were removed, this fabric would measure approximately 43 1/2″ by 96″ laid out flat.

This corte is beautiful with its classic crisp navy blue design with light blue stripes. The accent stitching at the randa, or where the panels join, is hand-guided machine embroidered water jugs in a rainbow of colors. The fabric is of a medium weight and has a denim feel to it.

This huipil is absolutely beautiful with brilliant colored embroidery that features two quetzales (national bird of Guatemala) on each side of the huipil in a garden full of wonderful flowers and peacocks. The colors are glowing jewel colors of greens, pinks, blues, purples and more! The background is a black commercial fabric. The embroidery is all machine done free-hand, and is truly an art form. Just amazing! This is a wonderful example of the incredibly beautiful ‘fiesta’ huipiles of Santa Maria de Jesús.

Striking corte/skirt made in the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. The corte is a wrap-around skirt that consists of a cut of cloth usually joined to form a tube into which the woman steps. Excess material is wrapped around the body and folded at the waist in pleats, and tied with a faja (belt). This lovely corte measures 45″ wide and 76″ long (laid flat). Cortes are generally sewn together to make a tube, but this one is not. It is a full flat piece of fabric.

This corte is beautiful with its classic crisp navy blue design with white stripes. The accent stitching at the randa, or where the two panels join, is hand embroidery in a rainbow of colors. The fabric is of a medium weight and has a denim feel to it.

Lovely colorful faja (belt) made in the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This beautiful faja measures 1 1/2″ wide, 90″ long, with an additional 6″ fringe on each end. The stitched flower design runs approximately 36” of the total length.

This faja is woven with a deep black background with a blue stripe along each edge. There are eye catching colorful flowers with green leaves done with  free-hand machine embroidery. The flowers stand out against the dark background.

The colors are  blue, green, purple and pink with yellow accents throughout. The thread used to weave this tzute are cotton, acrylic, and cotton blends. Where the two lienzos join, it is a simple hand stitching that runs the full length of the tzute in coordinating thread, creating the illusion of one large square cloth. The edges have a simple hem. The background fabric is woven red cotton and has the wonderful feel of an antique textile.

Striking faja (belt) made in the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This beautiful faja measures 92″ long not including the 5″ of tassels at each end. It also measures 2 3/4” wide. The woven geomorphic design runs approximately 40” of the total length down one side.

This faja is woven in the classic red, blue, green and purple color that is seen in the traditional huipiles from Santa Maria de Jesús, in the classic diamond pattern.  This style of fully woven faja is not seen too often as many have started wearing the less expensive machine embroidered fajas.

This cinta is hand woven with mayan designs that represent the union of marriage. It is full of colors  blues, purples, reds, and yellows with accents of black and white. The weaving is very fine and detailed with identical designs on both sides. The threads are of an acrylic blend and are full of color!
