Beautiful blue huipil! This huipil is from the town of Tactic in the region of Alta Verapaz. This elegant huipil measures 30” across the shoulders, 25″ across the chest*, and 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures  5.25” along each of the four sides. The sides have been stitched to create armholes. *The sides of this huipil have been taken in substantially along the sides (3″+ on each side). If the stitching was removed it would make this huipil much larger.

This beautiful two-panel huipil is elegant with its light and dark blue texture weaving and stunning hand-guided, machine done embroidery across the chest. The embroidery features lovely flowers and a beautiful butterfly. There is some use of metallic thread in the embroidered design. The background fabric is a medium weight blue cotton.

The sides have been stitched to create armholes.

This huipil is elegant with its beautiful soft pastel colors throughout. The weaving is accented with traditional deer and mayan stars that are often used in huipiles from this area. The collar and sleeve are accented with with a delicate white on white stripe. The background fabric is a crisp light/medium weight woven white cotton. There is an added commercial fabric panel along the lower edge to extend the length. This can easily be removed.

This lovely little huipil measures 21” across the shoulders and 19″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is somewhat circular shaped (scalloped) and measures  5.5” in diameter. The stitching along the sides has been removed to allow this huipil to open fully.

This darling little three-panel tailored huipil is colorful with its mayan geomorphic designs throughout the body. The weaving is accented with traditional zigzag rivers the bodice. The colors are green, teal, pink, and blue. There is some use of metallic thread in this huipil. The background fabric is a medium weight royal blue cotton.

Unique huipil from the Tactic region. This striking huipil measures 31″ across the shoulders*, and 26″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening measures approximately 20” in circumference.

This huipil is unique with its full ‘v’ shaped weaving design with satin soft thread that features rows of tiny ‘mayan stars’ and the classic zigzag pattern of Tactic in soft pastel colors of purple and light blue. The background fabric is a medium-weight black cotton with accent dots throughout the bodice. There is an extra panel of commercial fabric sewn to the bottom edge of this huipil to extend the length. This can easily be removed. *If this added fabric is removed, the side stitching can be removed to widen this huipil by approximately 8″. This row of side stitching runs down each side at the shoulders to make this huipil more narrow.

This huipil is in fair/good used condition, the flaws being a few pulled or loose threads as well as a several small spots in the bodice, perhaps from a bleach splatter. There is slight fading of the black background fabric.

This huipil is elegant with its splash of colors throughout the body. The weaving is accented with traditional mayan stars. The collar and sleeve caps are accented with free-hand machine embroidery of flowers in pink, purple, and green with gold accent thread. The neckline and sleeves are also trimmed with black crochet. There is an extra panel of commercial fabric sewn to the bottom edge of this huipil to extend the length. This can easily be removed. *If this added fabric is removed, the side stitching can be removed to widen this huipil by approximately 5″. This row of side stitching runs down each side at the shoulders to make this huipil more narrow.

This huipil is in good used condition, with a little sign of wear in the form of some loose threads in the center of the bodice. There are a couple of small faint stains on the accent thread and a white bleach spot on the lower right edge (shown in photo).

Super lightweight huipil from the Tactic region. This beautiful huipil measures 39″ across the shoulders, and 22″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 6″ x 6″.

This huipil is different with a very open style weaving that results in a guaze-like texture with hand weaving that features rows of mayan stars and birds with deer surround the neckline and on the sleeve caps. The background is an open-woven fabric in black cotton. Frequently this style of huipil (also like the huipiles from Coban) are worn untucked from the corte (skirt).

This huipil is in very good used condition, the only flaws being the occasional loose thread and slight pulls in the gauze background. This is expected due to the delicate style of this weaving.

This three-panel tailored huipil is colorful with its mayan geomorphic designs throughout the body. The weaving is accented with traditional deer, birds, people, corn plants, and mayan stars in the bodice. The colors are green, teal, pink, and blue. There is much use of arti-seda thread in this huipil. The background fabric is a medium weight orange cotton. There is an extra panel of commercial cotton/acrylic fabric sewn to the bottom edge of this huipil to extend the length. This can easily be removed.

This elegant huipil measures 27″ wide across the shoulders, 23” from the shoulders to the bottom hem, and the collar is scalloped shaped and measures approximately 7 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.

The huipil is woven on a medium weight dark black cotton background with various colors of mayan stars and diamonds woven throughout the body. (Due to the dark color, it is hard to have a photo that shows the beautiful color of this huipil).

Beautiful faja (belt) from the Tactic region. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This unique faja measures 85 1/2″ long, not including the fringe. The woven design runs approximately 38 1/2” of the total length.

This faja is woven in a lovely purple color and is decorated with a woven design of geomorphic deer in various shades of purple.
