This corte measures 34.5″ wide and 75″ long (laid flat). Cortes are generally sewn together to make a tube for wearing. This corte has the opening at the long sides as shown in the picture of the corte hanging. If the stitching joining the sides of the tube were removed, this fabric would measure approximately 34.5″ by 150″ laid out flat. This corte is beautiful with its soft pastel colors and detailed ikat design.

This lighter weight corte measures 32″ wide and 71″ long (laid flat). Cortes are generally sewn together to make a tube for wearing. This corte has the opening at the long sides as shown in the picture of the corte hanging. If the stitching joining the sides of the tube were removed, this fabric would measure approximately 32″ by 142″ laid out flat. This corte is beautiful with its brown colors and tiny ikat design. There is much use of metallic accent thread as well as acrylic threads.

Note that the corte has been extended by adding an extra strip along the end. Some taller women prefer a longer skirt than the looms provide. This is common.

This corte is beautiful with its purple and gold colors and ikat design throughout. There are accent stripes of gold metallic thread. This medium weight corte is woven on a foot loom of crisp cotton.

The design is ikat of black and grey with stripes of deep purple and green. This corte is accented with beautiful free-hand machine embroidered flowers along one side.

Wonderfully large and soft corte from the region of Chajul in Ixil Triangle in Guatemala. The corte is a wrap-around skirt that consists of a cut of cloth joined to form a tube into which the woman steps. Excess material is wrapped around the body and folded at the waist in pleats, and tied with a faja (belt).

This corte measures 35″ wide and 68″ long (doubled). This corte has the opening at the sides as shown in the picture of the corte hanging. If the stitching joining the sides of the tube were removed, this fabric would measure approximately 35″ by 136″ laid out flat. There is an additional row of stitching on this corte that divides the tube into two sections. One is folded inside the other to create a ‘lining’ to the skirt. Note that the corte has been extended by adding an extra strip along the end. Some taller women prefer a longer skirt than the looms provide. This is very common.

This is a wonderful and striking corte. This corte is absolutely beautiful with its deep cranberry color and woven accent stripes. The fabric has almost a brushed feel to it. This light to medium weight corte is super soft to the touch and drapes beautifully!

If the stitching joining the sides of the tube were removed, this fabric would measure approximately 38″ by 156″ laid out flat, more than 4 yards of fabric! Note that the corte has been extended by adding an extra strip along the end. Some taller women prefer a longer skirt than the looms provide. This is common.

844 San Juan Atitan-2657San Juan Atitán

 Very striking boys’s camisa/shirt with beautiful weaving and design! It is from San Juan Atitán in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala. This colorful and ornate camisa measures 21″ across the shoulders, 20.5″ across the chest, and 23″ from the neckline to the bottom edges. The sleeves measure 17.5″ in length from the point of the shoulders.

This camisa is striking with woven accent designs on the collar ends and sleeve ends that feature Mayan stars. Amazingly detailed embroidered spiders decorate the side seams! Elegant multicolored thread trims the head opening. The background is red and blue striped cotton blend. The sleeves have flaps at the ends that are tucked back inside to create volume in the sleeves. Please note that the underarm sections of this camisa are not sewn closed, as that is the style of these camisas. Can be easily stitched closed if desired.

819 San Ildefonso Ixtahuacan-2541San Ildefonso Ixtahuacán

Beautiful hand woven vintage huipil from the region of San Ildefonso Ixtahuacán located in the department of Huehuetnango. These aren’t seen as often as they used to be. This huipil measures 34″ across the shoulders, 34.5″ across the chest, 19″ from the neckline to the bottom edge (folded). The neck opening is rectangular and measures 5″ x 4″ (smaller).

This striking huipil is woven with various multi-colored diamonds throughout the body. The collar area is accented with hand embroidered flowers of pinks, greens, yellows and blues that gives it almost a stained glass look. The neckline embroidery is done so that the design is the same inside and out. The areas where the panels join are also decorated in hand embroidery of small butterflies. The background fabric is a medium weight woven burgundy and white striped cotton.

This striking vintage huipil is from the area of Tecpán and is full of flowers and birds. This well worn huipil measures 29″ across the shoulders, 28″ across the chest, and 24″ from shoulders to lower edge. The head opening is diamond shaped and measures 5.5″ along each of the four sides. The sides have been sewn to create armholes.

This huipil has the more modern style for Tecpán and is beautiful with its bright colors and hand weaving that features flowers and birds with zigzag rivers along the lower part of the design. The colors are shades of pinks, blues and reds and greens. The background fabric is heavier woven black cotton blend.

This huipil is in fair used condition with some signs of wear, a few loose threads throughout the design, and a few places where the weaving has worn through creating a hole. The lower edge has some areas of open weave as well. A lovely well used vintage textile!

Very detailed smaller woven vintage huipil from the village of Nebaj. This striking huipil measures 25″ across the shoulders, 24″ across the chest, and 24″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is measures 4″ x 4″ with an additional 2″ snap-closed slit to aid in pulling over the head (snug fit over adult head). The sides have had the stitching removed so that the huipil opens completely. The sides and be easily restitched to create arm holes.

This huipil features extensive and elaborate weaving of geomorphic figures including various birds, deer, and people that are representative for the area of Nebaj. The colors are a variety of greens, burgundy, and blues. The background is white nubby cotton.

This beautiful faja measures 74″ long, with an additional 5″ of tassel on each end. It measures 2.5” wide. The stitched design runs approximately 34” on one and and 30″ on the other end.

This faja is woven with a royal blue background color and is accented with a fully hand embroidered design along one end and machine embroidered along the other end allowing the wearer to change the design side to match their outfit. The flowers are a complimenting spectrum of colors and have been meticulously sewn.

Wonderfully woven daily-use rebozo or shawl. This heavy duty but striking rebozo would be worn over the shoulders, folded and placed on top of the head, or used to carry a baby. This rebozo measures 70″ in length, not including the approximately 4″ of fringe along each end, and 26″ in width.

This classic shawl is woven with soft pastel-colored stripes including the predominant purple, green, and blue. The delicate fringe creates a very elegant touch to the ends.

Unique hand-woven faja/belt. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte/skirt in the mayan traje or outfit. This lovely faja measures 88″ long, with an additional 5″ of tassel on each end. It measures 2.5” wide. The added design runs approximately 36” of the total length.

This faja is woven with a black background color and is accented with a added design stitched on top. The added woven fabric is in the ikat style of the cortes/skirts that the women wear with some lover silver metallic thread accents. This is a newer, more simply designed faja.

Beautiful classic vintage huipil from Chajul in striking white! This super lovely huipil measures 33″ across the shoulders, 33″ across the chest, and 19″ from the neckline to the bottom edges. The neck opening measures 7″ x 7″. The sides have had the stitching removed so this huipil opens up completely. The sides can easily be stitched to create armholes.

This super soft, classic huipil is lovely with traditional geomorphic animal figures woven on a white woven background. The design is a mix of deep rich colors. The design is classic for the town of Chajul with figures of birds across the bodice on both sides. The shoulders  and sleeves are accented with a coordinating geomorphic design. The background fabric is medium weight, super soft woven white cotton.
