848 Cinta Nebaj-2843Nebaj

Elegant cinta/hair wrap from the village of Nebaj. Women wear this style of cinta in their hair as part of their outfit. This colorful cinta measures 115″ in total length and 4″ – 4.5″ in width. The tassels at each end measure 7″ each. The more detailed weaving decorations run 18″ – 20.5″ at each end.

This cinta is finely woven with wonderful colors of green with accents of gold, white blue, and purple, representing the mountains and rivers of Guatemala running the full length of the cinta. At each end there are sections with more detailed weaving containing geomorphic figures similar to those found in huipiles from this same region. The tassels are a wonderful mix of the colors found in the cinta, with solid center colors of red, blue, yellow, pink, and turquoise.

Additional photos can be found here.

This cinta is in very good used condition with almost no sign of wear except for slight creasing down the length of the cinta, and perhaps a few loose threads. This is a wonderful textile for use or display!
