513 Faja Chajul-0164Chajul

Beautiful elegant faja/belt from the region of Chajul. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This beautiful faja measures 118″ long, with an additional 2″ of tassel on each end. It also measures 4 1/2” wide. The colorfully geomorphic design runs approximately 34” on one end.

This faja is woven in a rich burgundy color and is accented with a colorfully woven geomorphic design with birds and deer hidden in the pattern. The fringe ends are accented with colorful ‘pompoms’.

Additional photos can be found here.

This faja is in good used condition with a small amount of wear, perhaps a few loose threads at the tassels and some creasing along the length. There is some very minor fading of the color along the faja. A stunning textile for display or use!
