846 Faja-2836Nebaj

Elegant faja or woman’s belt made in the town of Nebaj. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This beautiful faja measures 2.5″ wide, 106″ long, with an additional 8.5″ of woven/knotted tassel on each end. The colorfully geomorphic design runs approximately 37” on one end.

This faja is woven in the classic multicolored geomorphic figures throughout the design on burgundy/red, black and white striped background. There are tassels on each end.

Additional photos can be found here.

This faja is in good used condition with very little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads along the edges. This would make a stunning belt to wear or a unique home accent. A very lovely textile!
