San Antonio Aguas Calientes

Detailed faja (belt) from San Antonio Aguas Calientes. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This unique faja measures 98″ long. It also measures 2” wide. The stunning artwork shows squirrels and parrots amongst various flowers and fruits throughout the design on a bright purple background. The weaving is done in the very fine and detailed San Antonio style where the pattern is identical on both sides.

This faja is in very good condition with little sign of wear. Perhaps a few loose threads along the edges and some thinning of the fringe.
