San Antonio Aguas Calientes

Detailed faja (belt) from San Antonio Aguas Calientes. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This unique faja measures 87″ long, not including the additional 5″ of tassel/trim on each end. It also measures approximately 2 1/2” wide.

The stunning artwork shows birds and parrots amongst various flowers and fruits throughout the design on a jewel blue trimmed black background. The weaving is done in the very fine and detailed San Antonio style where the pattern is identical on both sides, “doble cara”. The design runs 34″ of the length of the faja.

This elegant faja is in excellent used condition.
