Lovely colorful faja/belt made in the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte/skirt in the mayan traje or outfit. This beautiful faja measures 2.25″ wide, 85″ long, with an additional 4″ – 7″ of fringe on each end. The stitched bird design runs approximately 35” of the total length.
This faja is woven on a golden yellow background with a tiny black stripe running along each edge. There are eye catching colorful birds done with free-hand machine embroidery. Each of these sweet birds is unique in color and design.

This faja is in good condition with some slight wear and a few loose threads in the design and some tangles in the tassels. A beautiful textile piece!
