590 Faja Santiago Chimaltenango-0107Santiago Chimaltenango

Detailed faja from the area of Santiago Chimaltenango in the department of Huehuetenango. Lovely and long faja beautifully woven with colorful accents approximately every 2″ along the lower sections. This faja measures 3″ wide, by 120″ long, not including the approximately 5″ of tassel braid at the end. The design measures about 33″ on one end and 37″ on the other, with the middle section having no design.

This faja is accented with acrylic blend thread designs on a woven red cotton blend background fabric. The accents are in a variety of pastel hued colors including greens, pinks, purples, lemon yellows, etc. Very lovely to look at! This faja also has a matching corte (skirt) and huipil (blouse) that creates a complete traje (outfit).

Additional photos can be found here.

This faja is in good used condition, with perhaps a few loose threads and a bit of wear along the edges at one end. Some of the design shows slight wear. A very stunning vintage textile!
