595 Faja Santiago Chimaltenango-0166Santiago Chimaltenango

Detailed faja from the town of Santiago Chimaltenango in the department of Huehuetenango. Lovely and long faja beautifully woven with nubby colorful woven accents. This faja measures 3 1/8″ wide, by 130″ long, with about 5″ of tassel braid at the end. The design measures about 45″ on one end and 42″ on the other, with the middle section having no woven accent design.

This faja is accented with cotton blend thread designs on a woven red cotton background fabric that has heather brown stripes. The accents are in a variety of pastel hued colors including greens, pinks, purples, lemon yellows, etc. Very lovely to look at! This faja also has a matching corte (skirt) and huipil (blouse) that creates a complete traje (outfit).

Additional photos can be found here.

This faja is in very good used condition, with perhaps a few loose threads. The is a very small section that has a dark smudge/stain, it is difficult to notice. A spectacular vintage textile!
