616 Faja Santiago Chimaltenango-0451Santiago Chimaltenango

Striking faja from the area of Santiago Chimaltenango in the department of Huehuetenango. Lovely and long faja beautifully woven with accent squares of Mayan geomorphic figures running most the length. This faja measures 2 3/8″ wide, by 88″ long, not including the approximately 4″ of tassel braid at the end. The design measures about 20″ on each end, with the middle section having no design.

This faja is accented with acrylic blend thread designs on a woven red cotton striped background fabric. The accents are in a variety of pastel hued colors including greens, pinks, purples, lemon yellows, etc. Very lovely to look at! This faja also has a matching corte (skirt) and huipil (blouse) that creates a complete traje (outfit).

Additional photos can be found here.

This faja is in very good used condition. The are no obvious signs of wear, but perhaps a loose thread.
