Classic vintage huipil from Chichicastenango region of Guatemala, famous for having one of the largest markets in the country. Traditional tapestry style with a beautiful floral design. This large huipil measures 32″ across the shoulders, 20″ – 29″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The panels of this huipil are uneven in length. The neck opening is round and measures 5″ in diameter with an additional 2″ slit on the side with a metal snap closure.
This three panel huipil has elaborate embroidery that features multi-colored flowers throughout the body and shoulders in pink, orange, blue, and green. The neckline is decorated with the radiating sun in various shades of deep red. The background fabric is soft navy blue cotton.
This huipil is used, but shows few signs of wear, perhaps a few loose threads, but that is expected in a classic vintage huipil like this one.
