Stunning huipil from the Chichicastenango region. Traditional tapestry style with beautiful flower design. Fantastic texture and color! This is a very stunning  huipil from the Chichicastenango region of Guatemala, famous for having one of the largest markets in the country. This huipil measures 30″ across the shoulders, 27″ – 31″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded).  The front and back are not the same length. The neck opening is round and measures 5″ in diameter with an additional 3″ snap-closed slit to aid in pulling over the head. The sides have been stitched to create armholes.

This three panel huipil is striking with elaborate weaving that features a very unique multicolored classic flower design throughout the body and shoulders. The colors are predominantly pale salmon pinks and sage greens. The neckline is decorated with the radiating sun, traditional for the region. The background fabric is woven black cotton.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in good used condition, with a few loose threads. There is slight wear in a few places in the design and some open/loose weaving along the lower edge. This is a beautiful textile!
