Chichicastenango

Classic Vintage Huipil from Chichicastenango! Traditional tapestry style with beautiful floral design. Fantastic texture and color! Very stunning embroidered huipil from the Chichicastenango region of Guatemala, famous for having one of the largest markets in the country. This huipil measures 33″ across the shoulders, 28″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 5″ in diameter, with a snap-closed slit of 2″.

This three panel huipil is striking with elaborate embroidery that features multi-colored classic mayan diamond figures as well as baskets overflowing with flowers throughout the body and shoulders in gold, purple, blue, red, green and too many more colors to name. The neckline is decorated with the radiating sun in red and brown accented with brown velveteen. The background fabric is black cotton.

This huipil is in great used condition, with few flaws. There is a small amount of wear at the collar. Perhaps a few loose threads. The panels are not even at the bottom edge (very common for huipiles from Chichicastenango). Otherwise it is in great condition!
