650 Comalapa-0971Comalapa

Very elegant huipil, full of birds, fruit and flowers! It is from the town of Comalapa. This lovely huipil measures 29″ across the shoulders, and 23″ – 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The front and back are not the same length. The neck opening is rectangular shaped and measures approximately 6″ x 8″.

This huipil is absolutely beautiful with its deep colors and hand weaving that features rows of beautiful flowers and birds alternating with mayan stars and zigzag rivers. The shoulders are decorated with designs of various fruit. The colors are greens, reds, blues, purples, yellows and more!  The background is woven black cotton. This huipil was woven with the inspiration of the designs from San Antonio Aguas Calientes.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in very good used condition, with little sign of wear such as a few loose threads and some slight wear in the bodice. The lower section has areas of loose threads where the extra warp was woven back into the huipil.
