736 Comalapa-1460Comalapa

Very elegant huipil with colorful flowers! It is from the town of Comalapa. This lovely huipil measures 26″ across the shoulders, 24″ across the chest, and 22″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded)*. The neck opening is square shaped (scalloped) and each of the four sides measures approximately 5 1/2″. The sides have been stitched to create arm holes. *This huipil has been taken in from the shoulders a substantial amount. If this stitching was removed, it would measure approximately 30″ across the chest laid flat.

This huipil is absolutely beautiful with its deep rich colors and hand weaving accented with soft thread that features beautiful flowers. The woven threads are a mix of purple and black with accent colors of olive green, purple, and pale blue. The neckline and sleeves are accented with black crochet trim. The background is thick hand woven cotton blend.

This huipil is in great used condition, with very little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads. A stunning textile!
