Toro! Toro! Wonderfully vintage red huipil from the Nahualá region of Guatemala. This stunning huipil measures 33″ across the shoulders, 26″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded), and the collar is circular and measures 6 1/4″ in diameter (comfortable fit over average adult head). The sides have been stitched, creating arm holes for wearing.

This all cotton older huipil is a striking red woven design with accents in blue, gold, green and yellow. The pattern is geomorphic designs of darling bulls across the shoulders and the chest. There is a very faint red hue to the background design. There is bleed of the red color onto the light background fabric, which is a desirable trait in the huipiles of this region. The technique is to intentionally let the color of the threads run onto the base fabric. It is said that this dates back to the use of expensive silk threads on the huipiles, which would lose some of the color and run, causing this stunning effect. This huipil is light/medium weight, woven on a white cotton background. This is a very striking piece extremely representative of this region with a very unique design.

This beautiful huipil is in good used vintage condition and shows its age with perhaps a few loose threads. There is some faint staining throughout and a tiny repair on one side. This is a fantastic vintage textile, perfect for wear or for display!
