667 Nebaj negro-0425Nebaj

Very detailed smaller woven vintage huipil from the village of Nebaj. This ornate huipil measures 25″ across the shoulders, and 23″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures approximately 3 3/4″ along each of the four sides with an additional 3″ snap-closed slit on one side to allow it to pass over the head. The sides have been stitched to create arm holes.

This huipil features lovely weaving of geomorphic figures including various birds, deer, and people that are representative for the area of Nebaj. The figures tell a wonderful story. The colors are a variety of greens, lavenders, and blues. The background is black woven cotton. The collar has accent trim.

This vintage huipil is in very good used condition with very little sign of wear, a few loose threads and some fading of the black background fabric on the underside. A very elegant piece, perfect for display or wear!
