532 Patzun-0243Patzún

Super sweet, floral ‘mayan calendar’ design huipil with beautiful weaving and striking embroidery! It is from Patzún in the Chimaltenango region of Guatemala. This lovely huipil measures 31″ across the shoulders, and 22″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 5 1/2″ in diameter. The sides have been sewn to create armholes.

This vintage huipil is exquisite with a hand embroidered design radiating from the collar. The sleeves are capped with coordinating embroidery. The style is that of the mayan calendar, with blocks of flowers and feathers radiating from the neck opening in a rainbow of colors. It is more similar to the vintage ceremonial style huipiles instead of the more modern ones of all flowers.

The background fabric is a cotton blend in burgundy/red with bands of colored stripes. This huipil is wonderfully pleasing to the eye!

This huipil is in good used condition, with a few loose threads in the embroidery and some slight wear. There is a slight fading of the deep color in a few spots due to age. A truly lovely huipil, perfect for wear or for display!
