656 Patzun-1037Patzún

Striking ‘mayan calendar’ design huipil with beautiful weaving and embroidery! It is from Patzún in the Chimaltenango region of Guatemala. This lovely huipil measures 34″ across the shoulders, and 19″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 5 1/4″ in diameter, with a small 1″ slit to ease pulling over the head. The sides have been sewn to create armholes.

This huipil is exquisite with a hand embroidered design radiating from the collar. The style is that of the mayan calendar, with blocks of animals, figures, and feathers circling the neck opening in a rainbow of colors. It is more similar to the vintage ceremonial style huipiles instead of the more modern ones of all flowers.

The background fabric is an incredibly soft burgundy/red with bands of colored stripes. The stripes have been left to hang at the ends creating a unique fringe. This huipil is wonderfully soft to the touch and pleasing to the eye!

This huipil is in very good used condition, with a few loose threads in the embroidery. A truly lovely huipil, perfect for wear or for display!
