724 Quetzaltenango-1331Quetzaltenango

Wonderfully soft and simple huipil from the Quetzaltenango/Xela region in Guatemala. This huipil measures 25″ across the shoulders, 20 1/2″ across the chest, and 26″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The sides have been tailored and taken in for a fitted look, but can be opened to approximately 26″ across the chest with another 4″ that can be added for taking out the shoulder folds. The neck opening is rectangular and measures 8″ by 6 1/4” (very generous).

The colors are a sea of purples with geomorphic figures including rivers and mountains and corn plants. The collar and sleeves are trimmed with a slightly metallic accented crochet trim. The background fabric is white cotton.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in great used condition, with perhaps a few loose threads. This a wonderfully soft piece that would great to wear or display!
