Very nice huipil with beautiful weaving and striking embroidery! It is from the Quetzaltenango region of Guatemala (Frequently referred to as Xela). This lovely huipil measures 28″ across the shoulders (tip to tip), 23″ across the chest, and 21 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is rectangular and measures 6″ by 7 1/2″. The sides have been sewn to create armholes. The sides of this huipil have been tailored and the excess fabric removed, so it cannot be opened fully.

This lovely blue huipil is accented with woven birds and mayan stars throughout the bodice. The background fabric is denim-colored blue. Where the panels join in this three panel huipil, there is a hand embroidered randa in shades of blue. The neckline is accented with a crochet border. The sides of this square huipil have been taken in to create more of a tailored blouse effect.

This huipil is in very good used condition, with little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads.
