Huipil from San Antonio Aguas Calientes #116
Posted by Ixchel in HUIPILES, San Antonio Aguas Calientes, SOLDStriking huipil made in the style of the San Antonio Aguas Calientes area of Guatemala. This huipil measures 29″ across the shoulders, and 24″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped, and each side measures 5” in diameter.
*This huipil was actually made in the neighboring town of Santa Maria de Jesús with the design style of San Antonio Aguas Calientes; as can be seen in the large and beautiful loros (parrots) and lovely hibiscus flowers in addition to the diamonds and zigzags across the lower section.
The colors are predominantly green, blue, orange, and yellow. The design is hand embroidered on a heavy black woven cotton blend base. The collar and sleeves are accented with a black crochet trim. The sides have been stitched together to create the sleeve openings.
This huipil is in very good used condition. There is some slight wear in the form of a few loose threads.
