San Antonio Aguas Calientes 406-0955San Antonio Aguas Calientes*

Lovely huipil made in the style of the San Antonio Aguas Calientes area of Guatemala. This huipil measures 28″ across the shoulders, and 24″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped, and measures 5 1/4” along each of the four sides. The sides have had the stitching removed, so this huipil opens completely. The sides can easily be stitched closed to create arm holes for wearing.

*This huipil was actually made in the neighboring town of Santa Maria de Jesús with the classic design of San Antonio Aguas Calientes; as can be seen in the varying rows of lovely birds in a garden of flowers. The bird design at the shoulders and across the chest are done in a copy of the San Antonio designs. The colors are a full spectrum of green, blue, orange, red, yellow and much more. The design is woven on a deep, burgundy red woven cotton base.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in good used condition. There is some slight wear in the form of a few loose threads. One of the panels on the reverse side is a bit shorter than the other.
