622 San Lucas Toliman-0490San Lucas Tolimán

Elegant woven huipil from the area of San Lucan Toliman. This beautiful classic huipil measures 33″ across the shoulders, and 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures approximately 6″ in diameter. The sides are stitched, creating armholes.

This huipil is very beautiful with a hand woven pattern throughout. The tiny geomorphic figures are woven into the background fabric. The design is alternating rows of of animals, mayan stars, and corn plants. It has a variety of colors including the predominant purple blue and red.  The collar and sleeve openings are trimmed in black velveteen and accented with beautiful machine embroidery. The woven background is soft, slightly faded black cotton. This is a wonderful example of the classic style huipiles of the San Lucas Toliman region.

This huipil is in great used condition, perhaps a few loose threads and some overall fading due to age. This is a stunning vintage textile!
