662 San Lucas Toliman-0650San Lucas Tolimán

Elegant woven huipil from the area of San Lucan Toliman. This beautiful classic huipil measures 34″ across the shoulders, and 22 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures approximately 5 3/4″ in diameter. The sides are stitched, creating armholes.

This huipil is very beautiful with a hand woven pattern throughout. The tiny geomorphic figures are woven into the background fabric. The design is alternating rows of of animals, mayan stars, and corn plants. It has a variety of colors including the predominant purple, lavender and red.  The collar and sleeve openings are trimmed in hand and machine sewn accents with black crochet trim. The woven background is light blue cotton with dark blue stripes. The raw bottom edge has been sewn with a zigzag stitch. This is a wonderful example of the classic style huipiles of the San Lucas Toliman region.

This huipil is in very good used condition, perhaps a few loose threads and some minor fading due to age. This is a stunning vintage textile!
