835 San Lucas Toliman-2574San Lucas Tolimán

Elegant larger woven huipil from the area of San Lucan Toliman. This simple classic huipil measures 34″ across the shoulders, 34″ across the chest, and 23″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is somewhat round and measures approximately 6.25″ in diameter. The sides are unstitched, allowing the huipil to open completely. It is fairly easy to stitch the sides to create armholes for wearing.

This huipil is lovely with a hand woven pattern throughout. The small delicate geomorphic figures are woven into the background fabric. The design is rows of of corn plants, mountains, and rivers in a variety of colors. There is much use of artiseda thread in the details of this huipil. The woven background is soft, crisp white cotton. This is a wonderful example of the classic style huipiles of the San Lucas Toliman region.

This huipil is in great used condition, perhaps a few loose threads around the collar and some very faint stains due to age. This is a stunning vintage textile!
