881 San Lucas Toliman pink-4225San Lucas Tolimán

Fuchsia! Elegant woven huipil from the area of San Lucan Toliman. This beautiful classic huipil measures 32″ across the shoulders, 28″ across the chest, and 25″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped and measures approximately 5.75″ along each of the four sides. The sides are stitched, creating armholes.

This huipil is very beautiful with a hand woven pattern throughout. The tiny geomorphic figures are woven into the background fabric. The design is alternating rows of of animals, mayan stars, and corn plants. It has a variety of colors in the tiny figures.  The collar and sleeve openings have sweet little accents of hand embroidered flowers. The woven background is soft, super bright pink woven cotton. This is a wonderful example of the classic style huipiles of the San Lucas Toliman region in a very unique color.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in very good used condition, perhaps a few loose threads and some slight wear mainly at the neck and sleeve openings. The shoulders were taken in, so there is some creasing along the sides. There is some faint fading due to age. This is a stunning vintage textile!
