San Lucas Tolimán

Lovely woven huipil from the area of San Lucan Toliman. This beautiful classic huipil measures 27″ across the shoulders, 24″ across the chest*, and 26″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is diamond shaped and measures approximately 5″ along each of the four sides. The sides are stitched, creating armholes. *Note: this huipil has both sides taken in by approximately 2″ on each side as well as another 1″ down from the shoulders. This stitching can easily be removed, adding an additional 3-5″ to the width.

This three-panel huipil is beautiful with a hand woven pattern throughout. The figures are woven into the background fabric in rows. The design cannot be seen from the underside. The woven background is faded purple cotton . This is an example of the classic style huipiles of the San Lucas Toliman region.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in great used condition, perhaps a few loose threads. A lovely textile!
