678 San Raimundo-0415San Raimundo

Very large and striking huipil! This huipil is from the town of San Raimundo. These huipiles slightly resemble those from San Juan Sacatepéquez, but are unique in their own way. This lovely huipil measures 39” across the shoulders, and 22″ – 23 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The front and back are different lengths. The neck opening is rectangular and measures 5” x 5 1/2″.

This huipil is beautiful with its deep colors of purple, royal blue, and gold/yellow that features the traditional animal motifs found in the huipiles of this region, including the feathered serpent and turkeys. The colors of the figures are yellow, royal blue, and green. The background fabric has softened with age.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in very good used condition, with very little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads. An exquisite textile for display or wear!
