Santa Maria de Jesús
Very stunning embroidered huipil, full of lifelike pheasant birds and happy couples in a garden of flowers! It is from the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. This elegant and striking huipil measures 29″ across the shoulders, and 28″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 6 1/2″ in diameter.
This huipil is absolutely beautiful with brilliant colored embroidery that features birds in a flower garden full of wonderful flowers and happy couples. The colors are glowing jewel colors of greens, pinks, blues, purples, oranges, yellows and more! The background is a black commercial fabric. The embroidery is machine done free-hand, and is truly an art form. Just amazing! This is a wonderful example of the incredibly beautiful ‘fiesta’ huipiles of Santa Maria de Jesús.
This huipil is in very good used condition, with very few visible signs of wear. Perhaps a few loose threads.
