Santiago Atitlán

Very large lovely hand embroidered huipil, beautifully accented with life-like flowers! It is from the town of Santiago Atitlán on the shores of Lake Atitlán. This elegant huipil measures 32 1/2″ across the shoulders, and 28″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 6″ in diameter. The sides have had the stitching removed to open the arm holes, but can easily be restitched if desired.

This huipil is absolutely beautiful with elaborate hand embroidery that features life-like flowers with branches and leaves surrounding the collar in stunning shades of reds and pinks. The woven cotton background is white with stripes of purple both vertical and horizontal. In each square created by the woven lines there are birds woven into the fabric, filling each square. Just amazing! This is a wonderful example of the incredibly beautiful huipiles of the Santiago Atitlán region.

This huipil is in great used condition, with minimal sign of wear.
