Santiago Atitlán

Very stunning lavender-blue hand embroidered huipil, full of mayan figures!! It is from the town of Santiago Atitlán on the shores of Lake Atitlán. This elegant huipil measures 30″ across the shoulders, and 28″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 7″ in diameter.

This huipil is absolutely beautiful with elaborate hand embroidery that features rows of mayan figures using a variety of colors inspired by the nearby lake waters. The woven striped cotton background is light purple-blue with stripes of dark purple. Just amazing! This is a wonderful example of the incredibly beautiful huipiles of the Santiago Atitlán region.

This huipil is in great used condition, with minimal sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads.
