Santiago Atitlán

Very stunning hand embroidered huipil, full of striking birds!! It is from the town of Santiago Atitlán on the shores of Lake Atitlán. This elegant huipil measures 30″ across the shoulders, 27″ across the chest, and 26″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 6 1/2″ along each of the four sides.

This huipil is absolutely beautiful with elaborate hand embroidery that features beautiful hand-embroidered birds filling the bodice. The neckline is accented with purple flowers. The woven striped cotton background is white with stripes of royal blues. Just amazing! This is a wonderful example of the incredibly beautiful huipiles of the Santiago Atitlán region.

This huipil is in very good used condition, with minimal sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads. There is some staining in the lower sections with a couple of smaller stains.
