Super lightweight huipil from the Tactic region. This beautiful huipil measures 39″ across the shoulders, and 22″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is square and measures 6″ x 6″.
This huipil is different with a very open style weaving that results in a guaze-like texture with hand weaving that features rows of mayan stars and birds with deer surround the neckline and on the sleeve caps. The background is an open-woven fabric in black cotton. Frequently this style of huipil (also like the huipiles from Coban) are worn untucked from the corte (skirt).
This huipil is in very good used condition, the only flaws being the occasional loose thread and slight pulls in the gauze background. This is expected due to the delicate style of this weaving.
