This striking huipil is from the area of Tecpán. This lovely huipil measures 34” across the shoulders, and 24 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 6 1/2″ in diameter. The sides have been sewn to create armholes.

This huipil has the more modern style for Tecpán and is beautiful with its bright colors and hand weaving that features a row full of bouquets of flowers. The colors are shades of purples, blues and greys with bright green leaves. There are rows of birds, mayan stars and rivers represented by horizontal triangles throughout. Lovely woven fish swim across the tops of the shoulders on each side. The background fabric is heavy woven white cotton. The thread is predominantly cotton.

This huipil is in good used condition with a few minor signs of wear. There are some loose threads, mainly around the collar, as well as some faint discoloration on the lower white section on one side.
