707 Tecpan-0893Tecpán

This striking huipil is from the area of Tecpán. This lovely huipil measures 29” across the shoulders, and 23″ – 28″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The front and back differ in length. The neck opening is circular and measures approximately 6″ in diameter. The sides have been sewn to create armholes.

This huipil has beautiful tapestry-style weaving that features flowers in rows throughout the textile. The flowers are shades of blues and purples. There is black lace trim accenting the collar and sweet machine embroidered flowers running down from the neckline on both sides. The background fabric is heavier woven cotton blend.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in good used condition with few signs of wear, some slight wear, a few loose threads and some opening of the weaving along the bottom where the weft was woven back in. There is some very faint discoloration of the lower section. A stunning textile!
