830 Tecpan-2618Tecpán

This striking huipil is from the area of Tecpán. This lovely huipil measures 30” across the shoulders, 28.5″ across the chest*, and 23″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 6.5″ in diameter. The sides have been sewn to create armholes. *This huipil has been taken in about 2″ on each side across the shoulders and if let out, would make the huipil wider.

This soft huipil has the more modern style for Tecpán and is beautiful with its bright colors and hand weaving that features a row full of wonderful flowers across the chest. The colors are shades of blues, pinks and yellows with bright green leaves. There are rows of mayan stars and rivers represented by horizontal triangles throughout. The background fabric is a heavier woven white cotton with blue accent stripes. The thread is predominantly cotton.
