433 Zunil-0108Zunil

Lovely blues and peacocks too! This large huipil is from Zunil, in the Quetzaltenango region of Guatemala. This unique huipil measures 32″ across the shoulders and 36″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is round and measures 6 1/4″ in diameter.

This larger huipil is woven with cotton/acrylic blended threads that is common for the Zunil region. It has accent peacocks that are free-hand machine embroidery that surround the collar and the sleeves. The collar and one of the sleeve openings are trimmed in dark green velveteen.

Additional photos can be found here.

This huipil is in very good used condition, with a few signs of wear, perhaps a few loose threads and the green velvet trim is missing on one of the sleeve openings.
