Lovely jars and bright colors! This bright huipil is from Zunil, in the Quetzaltenango region of Guatemala. This unique huipil measures 28″ across the shoulders and 27″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is rectangular and measures 4 1/2″ by 5 1/2″. The sides have been stitched closed about an inch just under the arm openings, the remainder of the sides are open.

This huipil is woven with cotton/acrylic blended threads that is common for the Zunil region. It has large jars as accents that are free-hand machine embroidery and surround the collar and the sleeves, and flow down the front and back. The collar and one of the sleeve openings are trimmed in soft lilac thread.
